The term is derived from Greek mythology, where Cassandra was cursed to make accurate prophecies that no one believed. In the context of psychology and decision-making, the Cassandra effect highlights the tendency for people to downplay or deny information that challenges their beliefs or preferences, leading to missed opportunities or negative outcomes. This effect underscores the importance of being open-minded and receptive to alternative perspectives and information. **
